Hormone-related and pregnancy care.
Midlife joint pain, cycle-related symptoms, and the back and pelvic pain that arrives with pregnancy and does not leave after it.
Two groups end up on this page and they are usually about twenty years apart.
The first is women somewhere in the perimenopausal or menopausal transition, dealing with hip pain, joint stiffness, and headaches that arrived without an injury to explain them. The common experience is being told this is normal for your age, which is true and also not a treatment plan. These are musculoskeletal problems and they respond to musculoskeletal treatment.
The second is pregnancy and the months after it. A shifting centre of gravity, a pelvis doing something new, and a low back carrying load it has not carried before. Then a newborn, and months of feeding positions and one-armed lifting that no physiotherapist ever signed off on.
What this page is not saying
Care here is for pain and mobility. Nothing here treats a hormonal condition, replaces your OB or midwife, or makes any claim about fertility or the course of a pregnancy. If you are pregnant, tell Dr. Simaan at the first visit and bring your provider's name, so treatment is planned around what your care team already has in place.
What treatment involves
Positioning is adapted through pregnancy and technique is chosen accordingly. Acupuncture and adjustment are both available in the same visit where the exam calls for both. One patient on the corpus lists menopausal hip pain among the things treated here alongside plantar fasciitis and TMJ headache.
"Have had acupuncture and chiropractic services for Planter Fasciitis, Menopausal Hip Pain, and TMJ Headache. It works!!"
Related: hip and joint pain and back pain and sciatica.
