Back pain and sciatica.
The most common reason anyone walks into this office, and the one most often handled with rest, ibuprofen, and a follow-up in six weeks.
Most low back pain gets better on its own. That is true, and any honest provider will tell you so. The problem is the share that does not, and the standard advice does not change much when it does. Rest, an anti-inflammatory, maybe imaging if it has been long enough, maybe physical therapy if your insurance approves it.
Pain that travels is a different animal. When it runs from the low back into the buttock, down the back of the thigh, sometimes past the knee, something is compressing or irritating a nerve on its way out of the spine. That is what sciatica describes. It is a symptom pattern, not a diagnosis, and the useful question is what is causing it in your particular back.
What the first visit actually does
Dr. Simaan examines what is moving, what is not, and where the pain reproduces. Whether the source is a joint that has stopped gliding, muscle guarding around it, nerve irritation, or some combination changes what gets treated. He tells you what he finds before he starts.
From there it is adjustment, acupuncture, or both in the same session. That last option is the part most patients cannot get anywhere else in Jacksonville without booking two providers and repeating their history twice.
How long it takes
Depends entirely on how long you have had it and what is driving it. Acute pain from a recent strain moves faster than a back that has hurt for a decade. Six sessions is where most treatment plans start, which is why the packages exist. Nobody will tell you it takes one visit.
"I started seeing Dr. Simaan with a mix of chronic pain that had been holding me back for years and a recent lower back injury that had me sidelined from any activity. Right away, his decades of experience stood out"
"He has helped me tremendously and I'm able to enjoy my everyday life again without constant nagging back pain."
When to go somewhere else first
Loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness through the groin, or sudden severe weakness in a leg needs an emergency room, not an appointment. Say so on the phone and we will tell you the same thing.
Acupuncture is $95 a session, or $80 in a six-session plan. Chiropractic on its own is $60. Everything is on the pricing page.
Ready when you are.
